Faster (2010)

Dwayne Johnson has managed to build quite a career for himself. After his initial fame as The Rock he made a succesful leap into movies. Initially these were roles in action movies like The Scorpion King and The Rundown, but he has also shown that he’s good at doing comedic roles in films like The Tooth Fairy, Be Cool and The Other Guys.
With Faster he returns to his roots with a “hard as nails” action movie

He plays Driver, a feared man and respected man in prison who has just been released. He only has one goal, which is revenge. If you’d want to compare it to other revenge movies…it’s more Death Wish than Old Boy as the story is quite a simple one. It has a lot of very violent (and bloody) action. My advice is to not watch the trailer of this movie as it spoils most of what is going to happen.

Of course his violent revenge doesn’t go unnoticed by the police and the people he’s trying to find, who also try to catch him. It’s an interesting game of cat and mouse.

If you are not expecting a deep story and are a big fan of action movies, I’d say that Faster is the perfect movie for a friday night. Just don’t think about what you are watching and you’ll have an enjoyable hour and half, although you’ll probably won’t remember a lot of it a week later.

Funny, I watched this last night and found it quite mediocre. The action scenes are completely unspectacular and this a totally superficial movie despite all the possibilities with the underlying themes. I like Dwayne Johnson but this is a middling effort at best.

Yeah, it really is a simple revenge movie and I agree that more could have been done with the themes. It was all very straight forward without much surprises, but sometimes I really don’t mind that in a movie.

I saw this the other day. As you say Faster is the perfect movie for a friday night and if you don’t think about what you are watching and you’ll have an enjoyable hour and half.

    Well said!

Thanks :) My expectations weren’t high and the movie gave me what I expected.
