The Many Faces of… Woody Harrelson

Woody Harrelson

Woody Harrelson is this week’s star in “The Many Faces of…”. He became famous with his role as Woody Boyd in Cheers. He pursued a career in film as well and has been very successful with a long list of movies to his name. He has received 2 Oscar nominations (for his roles in The Messenger and The People vs. Larry Flint), but never won. Reading about his early life it was interesting to find out that his father was an actual contract killer (who got caught and died in prison)

I really couldn’t pick out a favorite role this time as he has so many great roles. I thought he was extremely funny in Friends With Benefits and Zombieland. He also showed that he can do complex characters in Defendor.

What is your favorite Woody Harrelson movie?

  1. He was really funny in Friends With Benefits! man, he is really making his mark on Hollywood once again lately!

Excellent choice for today’s Friday Faces!! Thanks for picking him. I’ll be interested in seeing him in The Hunger Games and Rampart!

  2. Wow, I had no idea that his father was a hitman. Pretty crazy. Woody’s an interesting guy, and he has done some fun work lately (especially Zombieland, which was awesome).

  3. Hi, Nostra and company:

I’m kind of with Scott regarding Woody Harrelson. He’s been around a long time. Paid his dues and has had his times to shine. I particularly liked him in ‘Natural Born Killers’. Where he was psychotic, sociopath slime personified. Close to Michael Rooker’s ‘Henry…’, but with more unintended humor. Then perhaps, unintentionally. Parodying himself in ‘Zombieland’.

Also liked him as Dusty in ‘Prairie Home Companion’ as middle man, Carson Wells in ‘No Country for Old Men’. Harrelson connects often, but rarely hits it out of the park.

    • Yeah, he was crazy in Natural Born Killers, although the movie itself was a bit too much for me at the time. Seems you have seen him in more movies than I have.
