The Monday Question: Replace!

February 6, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

Some time ago I did a short article on actors who turned down big movie roles. You can only imagine what those movies would look like. It got me thinking of the situation who I would choose if I was able to make the casting calls. So this week’s Monday question is:
If you could change actors/actresses in a movie, which actors would you replace?

Nicolas Cage in Pulp Fiction

I decided to have a bit of fun with this. Although I think Samuel L. Jackson was perfect in Pulp Fiction, I would love to hear Nicolas Cage doing the Ezechiel 25:17 scene.

Samuel L. Jackson in Goodfellas

Of course that means Samuel L. Jackson needs to be in another role as well and even though he already appears in Goodfellas I’ve chosen to make him star in Joe Pesci’s. “Funny how?”

Replace Meryl Streep

I know I’ll probably get some heat for this one, but I would replace Meryl Streep in any movie she’s in. There’s just something about the way she looks that makes me feel uncomfortable. Really a feeling that is hard to explain. Now of course she would need a replacement, so I’d probably choose Tilda Swinton or Helen Mirren.

Well I won’t give you flak for not liking Streep, I’m kind of neutral about her. In fact I much prefer seeing someone like Helen Mirren or Judi Dench who are equally as talented.

Great choices. Any other replacements you would like to make?

Y’know, now that I think about it, Helen Mirren probably could do a splendid job as Miranda in The Devil Wears Prada, too.

I would LOVE to see Nicolas Cage take on Jack Nicholson’s iconic performance in The Shining. Nobody does crazy quite like Cage does. Though Nicholson’s turn is certainly a great one. Can’t promise Cage would be an improvement, but I do know it’s something I want to see.

True, Nic Cage would be able to pull that off in his own unique way!

    nice question, as always Nostra.

I always find it hard to think of anyone in those iconic roles other than the people that played them… For instance now I can not see anyone as The Joker that is not Ledger… I hope the character dies with him and does not get rebooted again..

Well, I must say that Nicholson did a pretty good Joker as well. I think we’ll see a Joker in the future, it’s such a big character in the Batman universe.

I would change Brad Pitt in Troy by Taylor Laughtner because a great actor like Pitt shouldn’t star in such bad movies, hah. Also, completely unrelated to this review, but concerning my site: Basically I completely messed up. I changed my site URL, for reasons explained in my latest post, but due to a mistake filmiac.wordpress.com doesn’t redirect to the new adress, which is this: http://terrorcin.wordpress.com So, if you want to visit the site again, please keep in mind that the URL has changed. Thanks man.

Hahahaha, I didn’t like Troy either so agree there! Thanks for the info!

What comes through my mind right now is to replace Anne Hathaway in the movie ‘One Day’ with any other British actress, perhaps Carey Mulligan again. It’s Lone Scherfig’s movie after ‘An Education’, but I don’t mind seeing Mulligan again.

So you are not a big fan of Hathaway then Andina?

No, I generally like her. But she just wasn’t fit for the role.

What a fun question. I’d love to see Nicolas Cage in Samuel L. Jackson’s Pulp Fiction role but I really can’t imagine anyone pulling it off as well as SLJ.

No, I think so neither, it’s really one of my favorite roles by any actor ever, just so iconic, but I think Cage would have a lot of fun with it though!
