The Many Faces of… Shailene Woodley

Shailene Woodley

Shailene Woodley was born November 15, 1991 in Simi Valley, California. She started modeling when she was just four years old. When she was 15 she was diagnosed with a condition in which her spine turned out not to be straight. A chest-to-hips plastic brace straightened it. She did some small roles in TV series and TV movies. She had a bigger role in the show The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Her first big movie was The Descendants, which meant a breakthrough for her. Other movies include The Spectacular Now, Divergent and The Fault in Our Stars.

  1. She comes off really bad in interviews, but I enjoy her for the most part. I was so pissed when she didn’t get an Oscar nomination for The Descendants but freaking Melissa McCartney got one for Bridesmaids. That’s my favorite role of hers, and having seen Secret Life, I never thought she’d be capable of something that great. She’s got a bright future.

  2. I have loved seeing Shailene Woodley pop up in several movies lately. I thought she was decent in The Spectacular Now, although I loved her in The Descendants, and I actually enjoyed her work in Divergent too. But my favorite role of hers so far has to be The Fault in Our Stars. I think she does some of her best work in it.

    • Yeah, I recently saw Divergent (not knowing it was part of a series of movies, which was a bit annoying), but she was great in it. Check out some of her other work.

  3. Still really sad that she wasn’t even nominated for her performance in The Descendent. She was great in that.

Also gutted that we probably won’t ever see her Mary Jane.

  4. Great post! The Descendants was the first thing that caught my eye, but her offscreen interviews and personality is actually what really made me pay attention to her – in a good way of course. I really loved her in Divergent and The Fault in Our Stars, putting out layered and enjoyable performances in both too. 🙂

  5. I’ve only seen her in 2 films so far but I really like her. She’s gorgeous without being a ditz, plus she’s effortlessly likable.
