When you were around in the eighties and you read these sentences: “I ain’t afraid of no ghost” or “Who you gonna call?” then chances are you will now be singing the theme music to Ghost Busters. The movie was very popular and even spawned a sequel and a cartoon, which i also watched when i was little.
It was a while ago since i last saw this movie, so i hardly remembered anything about it. For those that don’t know the Ghost Busters: Bill Murray play Dr. Peter Venkman, a scientist who is more interested in women than his job, Dan Akroyd as Dr. Raymond Stantz, who together with Dr. Egon Spangler (played by Harold Ramis) take care of the science of things and develop their equiment to catch ghosts. Ernie Hudson is the fourth Ghost Buster, Winston Zeddmore. This role was originally written to be played by Eddie Murphy, but him filming Bevery Hills Cop kept him from playing the part.
After watching this film again i’m not suprised it became a big hit. The story is very entertaining, de jokes are very well written and because the Ghost Busters are a hype in the move (the whole of New York seems to be a fan), that hype was copied by the movie going audiences.
After many years the Ghost Busters have not been forgotten. The movie got a sequel in 1989 and in 2009 Ghostbusters: The Game was released where you can play a Ghostbuster yoruself. The voice were done by the original cast.
If you want to watch a fun comedy, than Ghost Busters definately is recommended. There are not a lot of negative things to say about this movie. The script is well written, the effects are well made, there are enough laughs to be had and the cast play their roles to perfection.
Score: 9
I’ve re-watched this movie after seeing it on your blog. I must say it was a good as I remembered, maybe a little less scary then back in the day as a kid, but sublime nonetheless. So I thoroughly enjoyed it, and that’s what the movies are all about.
