In the not too distant future it will be possible to live longer by buying artificial organs on credit. At least, that’s the vision of the future according to this movie. When you can’t make your payments in time, you will be visited by employees of the Union, the company that sells these organs.
Remy (Jude Law) and Jake (Forest Whitaker) are the repo men of the company and they will visit people to get the organs back. So when you see them it means you won’t be in the land of the living much longer as they take the organs right on the spot.
Remy is one of the best repo men, even though this sometimes results in fights with his wife Carol (Carice van Houten, who really does not get enough screen time to make a big impression (she was extremely good in Black Book)). When he has to pay a visit to music producer T-Bone (RZA) something goes wrong and he learns more about the dark side of the Union and the illegal side of the organ trade.
The film is not a classic science fiction movie as the story just misses some elements. Remy is initially shown as a cold-blooded killer. The effect this has on his family is only shown in a couple of scenes. Because of this you will not care enough about Remy and his story.
Repo Men is an exciting action movie which sometimes is very bloody. Fights have been choreographed well and the special effects show a realistic looking future. The movie offers enough entertainment, but the story would have been better with some extra polish.
