After the success and popularity of the original Ghostbusters, it was a logical choice to make a sequel. At the start of this second movie it’s clear that the popularity of the Ghostbusters is not at the same anymore when compared to the end of the first movie. There are no ghost sightings anymore and the Ghostbusters are forced to show up for kids parties to make a living. But even the kids think they are boring.
As this setup would result in a very dull film and this movie is about ghostbusters, it’s no surprise that there supernatural things start happening again, which allows the iconic quartet to get back to work.
All the original cast members are present in this second part. Bill Murray manages to stand out in every scene he is in.
The movie is not as good as the first one because they actually do the same thing as in the first movie, defeating a powerful supernatural power. Some nice set-pieces are used to reach its conclusion, but the magic that was present in the original seems to be missing in this one. If you liked the first one however, you definitely want to see this one as well.
