After the success of the first Madagascar, in which four wild animals from the New York zoo end up in the wild of Madagascar, it is no surprise that a sequel would be made. The lion Alex (Ben Stiller), hippo Gloria (Jada Pinkett Smith), giraffe Melman (David Schwimmer) and zebra Marty (Chris Rock) decide to leave the island (together with the penguins) to return to New York. Because penguins are not the best mechanics, the plane they have fixed literally falls short of their goal to reach home and they crash in Africa
They are surprised to see the amount of animals that are running around there and can’t believe that they meet animals from their own species. Of course this results in some thrilling situations for all of them and all their stories slowly converge together to form a very entertaining movie. Of course King Julian (Sacha Baron Cohen) is present as well and together with the penguins he makes sure there are enough laughs to be had. It’s in no way amazing movie making, but I do enjoy these movies.
Madagascar 2 offers entertainment for both young and old, just like the first one did.

The sequel wasn’t fun for me.
That’s the thing with comedy, it’s really personal and also depends whether or not you are in the mood for it. Sometimes I don’t think something is funny, but when I watch it later it is.
