New Orleans, a city which has endured a lot due to the hurricane, is the city in which detective Sean Riley (Johny Strong) has to do his job. It’s a tough job in which you can be killed. As he has already seen lots of death he sometimes takes things too far and takes justice in his own hands. When there is a case in which burnt bodies are found he is asked to join the investigation because of his street knowledge. Together with detective Will Ganz (Kevin Philips) he tries to find out what happened. It turns out that that is a lot more than they initially expect.
Sinners and Saints uses its New Orleans backdrop to great effect. The atmosphere of a ruined city and simmering heat add to the feeling of an explosive situation. The movie immediately starts with a raid and firefight and the bullets don’t stop whizzing by till the end. The firefights have been captured beautifully and the actors move like trained soldiers, which make them feel realistic.
The story itself though isn’t very special and just used as something to lead to action. I just didn’t lose myself in it. Although I did really enjoy watching it, it is a movie which I will have totally forgotten next month, which I have given it a lower score. You will be entertained while watching, just don’t have high expectations of it.
Score: 5
This is one I saw available but kept on walking. I am glad I did now from your score!!
You should come to my house and try and lose yourself in a story with my wife constantly chatting to you about her day!! gets right up my nose!
Oh and I added you to my blogroll now. Sorry my memory is shocking at the moment
Thanks mate, as you can see I’ve added you to the top of my blogroll as well!
Haha, sounds very recognisable. What I usually do is pause the movie when she does so. After a couple of times I add the look and she’ll first let me finish the movie 😉
Lst night while watching the second half of Mesrine, she decided to start looking at tralers on her phone and shoving them in my face!! I nearly launched her phone out the window
Haha, so I guess she didn’t think the movie was very interesting. What did you think of it (I’m sure you’ll have your review up soon)?
