The art world is an interesting one where people are willing to pay big money just because it is widely loved. If there is demand there are always willing to help in supplying what they want and Roger Brown (Aksel Hennie) is the man for the job. While he has a day job as a headhunters trying to find the right person for a CEO position he also steals paintings in order to be able to make sure he keeps his wife happy and is able to pay for his expensive villa. It is not a job without risks and when one of them doesn’t go as planned Roger doesn’t seem to be safe anymore.
Although this is a Norwegian movie it feels like an American one. It looks great and has some nice set pieces and action sequences that will have you on the edge of your seat. As a viewer you are taken along for the ride and slowly uncover what the hell Roger has gotten himself into. It’s also a movie that has a couple of graphic scenes that might have the faint of heart turning their head away. They feel realistic and part of the story, but it’s nice to be warned about them. It also offers some laughs because of the absurd situations Roger ends up in.
The story is a classic one of a fugitive trying to get away from the bad guys while at the same time trying to find out why things went wrong and trying to get them right. This is a movie that showed up on one of the top 10 lists of 2011 (can’t remember which site) and I can completely understand why. It’s a movie which surprised and thrilled and one you really should check out.
Score: 9
Wow! Someone else liked this film and gave it a positive review. Thanks. I saw and did my own positive recommendations. I hope more people see this film, and give it praise.
Check out my review when you get a chance.

I think not enough people have seen it, but should be doing so!
I think it was Dan at Public Transportation Snob who fell in love with it. But I loved it to and made a very positive review about it after watching it. I thought it was equally engaging and darkly funny and I was hooked all the way through.
Yes, I think it was Dan who pointed it out 🙂 Nice to hear more people enjoy it…
I really want to see this film, ever since reading Jessica’s review from a while back… I am well jell
Hope you will be able to catch it at the cinema soon, happy I did!
Right, it’s got Jamie Lannister (Game of Thrones) in it so I feel I owe it to myself to watch it. Oh and your glowing review!
I still have not watched Game of Thrones, so I didn’t recognise the actors, but they all do an excellent job…
Nostra, glad to hear that you enjoyed this movie. I saw it at the St. Louis Film Festival last November, and it was my #3 of the year. I get a little nervous to read what others have to say about Headhunters because I’ve pushed it so much. It’s cool to hear that it worked for you. I agree about the American feeling about the movie, and I’ve heard grumblings about a remake. I feel like there’s no need!
Yeah, I realised I saw it mentioned on your top 10 list and noted it down. Was happy to see it selected for the festival as I couldn’t wait to see it. Heard about a remake, but would not be interested in see it as this one is already excellent. Thanks for pointing it out Dan!
