Choi Min-Sik was born on January 22, 1962 in Seoul, South Korea. He started out acting in on stage and on television. In 1992 he started appearing in movies. His first commercially succesfull role was in Shiri. Internationally he became famous with his role in Old Boy. He is one of my favorite actors and to me can easily measure up to acting giants like De Niro and Pacino. He has appeared in movies like Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, I Saw The Devil, Nameless Gangster and New World.

I’ve only seen Choi Min-Sik in his work with Chan-Wook Park and I like what I’ve seen from him. I Saw the Devil is in my queue of films to see.
Totally agree that he’s an acting powerhouse, the way he holds himself on screen is just spellbinding. It’s been a while since I’ve watched it, but I remember being bowled over by him in Crying Fist. You also can’t beat OldBoy for raw, powerful acting.
Yeah, I don’t think too many people have seen much of his other work but I always enjoy seeing him.
