I started watching House of Cards this week (which I have to say is an awesome show) and I noticed that I hadn’t featured Kevin Spacey in this series yet. Time to look at the many roles in his career.
Kevin Spacey was born on July 26, 1959 in South Orange, New Jersey. He attended Northridge Military Academy. When he wen to Chatsworth High he acted in a stage production of The Sound of Music where he played Captain Georg von Trapp.He tried his hand at being a stand-up comedian, but also studied drama. He started his professional career in plays. During one of these plays he worked with Jack Lemmon, who became a mentor to him. He made the step into movies and became very successful. He earned an Oscar for his supporting role in The Usual Suspects in 1996 and in 2000 he picked up a second statue for his leading role in American Beauty. Movies he has been in include Glengarry Glen Ross, Se7en, L.A. Confidential, The Negotiator, Pay It Forward and Margin Call.

The funny thing about Spacey is that he is the first actor that I had subconsciously been watching and who I had seen more movies of than any other actor to date. And he is even better in interviews. I still haven’t seen Glengarry, which I need to see, as well as him on stage. Really, an acting great.
I have seen quite a lot of his work as well. Glengarry is a movie you should see as it is almost like a stage play with stunning performances across the board. I’m sure you will be able to enjoy it.
I haven’t seen a lot of his movies, but my favorite of his was Se7en, even if he wasn’t the lead.

Keyser Soze! He’s great in American Beauty and his sudden appearance in the ending of Se7en was priceless.
That’s probably his most iconic role and one of my personal favorites.

Spacey first caught my attention in the old TV series ‘Wiseguy’. Where Spacey played an up and coming white collar crime boss with dreams of world arms sales, Mel Profitt. Huge potential opposite equally brilliant and devious twin sister, Susan; played by Joan Severance.
Still think his best work was in ‘The Usual Suspects’ and ‘Glengarry Glen Ross’.
Both great choices, although he is also very cool in House of Cards.
