Hope you had a very good weekend. I finally got around to writing my own entry to the Life, Love and the Movies blogathon and have been very busy preparing the move of the Dutch version of this site to the same server this one is running on. It all went fairly smoothly and I just have to make a couple of small adjustment before I will have moved away completely from WordPress.com. Which also means I did not have a lot of time to think of a question to ask you. So I’ll go with an easy one:
What’s the last movie you watched?
I managed to watch Bounty Killer on Saturday, which basically is a movie that is in the same league as Machete. Quite bad, but entertaining enough to keep you watching.
The last film I saw is L’Age d’Or by Luis Bunuel and today, the first half of The Birth of a Nation.
Two movies I have never seen, are they good?
L’Age d’Or is really good if you’re into surrealism and the works of Luis Bunuel. I just finished The Birth of a Nation. It’s an amazing film for its visuals and cinematic techniques but it is a very racist film.
Watched the first Hobbit on bluray. It holds up much better when I don’t have to pay attention all the way through. Liked it much better when I’m doing things around the house and can just stop in and pay attention when the good sequences pop up.
Thought that your answer is quite funny as you are saying you thought it was better on a reattach, but was doing other things to only check out the good bits 😉
Last one I watched was Wolf of Wall Street and I want to watch it again, such good fun!
That Lamborghini scene alone is enough reason for a rewatch.
The second “Hunger Games” movie in a theatre.
I’m currently screening films for a film festival, so the last movie I watched was a documentary, “Power Erotic”.
Still have to see that second Hunger Games film. Must cost a lot of time screening those movies. Do you watch them completely or do you skim through them?
Short Answer: Bad films I’ll usually watch the first ten minutes then skip to the middle. If it is still bad then I stop. OK Films I’ll skim through. Good films I watch the whole way through
Long Answer: I’m chair of the screening committee so I make sure a film is watched by at least three people before it is killed or moved forward in the process. The moved forward films stop going through the remainder of the committee in order to free-up time to go through all the submitted films. After all the films have been watched, then remaining committee members will watch the moved forward films. At this point we will start having the discussions about which films make it and which don’t.
Playing catch up with films from the last year I should have seen – saw Prisoners yesterday. Jesus, what a harrowing film.
Yeah, it is. Very good movie though!
On Saturday, I watched Drinking Buddies and really liked it. It’s my favorite of the films that I’ve seen by Joe Swanberg, and all four actors, particularly Olivia Wilde and Jake Johnson, did a good job.
Cool movie, really enjoyed that as well.
I saw Wild at Heart this weekend. It was good but I much prefer some of Lynch’s other films.
Not a fan of Lynch myself, so have not seen much of his work.
Prisoners, which was surprisingly good. Wonder how that one seemed to fly under the radar.
Yeah, that is an awesome movie which ended up in my top 10 of 2013. Glad to hear you saw it.
I am a little late but the last movie I watched was Drinking Budddies (2013). It was an okay movie but nothing all too special. It is on netflix instant if anyone is interested.
I can understand not everyone will be crazy about it, but I really liked it.
