A couple of months later though she gets the shock of her life when she finds out she is pregnant. She decides to investigate who coule be the father and makes a horrible discovery. It is possible that the father is a very dangerous criminal, Bob Nolan (Albert Dupontel).
9 Mois Ferme is a comedy with some dark elements, but it is the humour which takes center stage. Ariane is a serious person, but the characters around her generally feel like charicatures. one example is a stuttering lawyer who doesn’t seem to have any ability to think in a logical way, resulting in funny moments. Are comedy is provided by physical, slapstick humour. During the movie a murder has been commited and criminal Bob Nolan (who isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed) is putting forward a theory on what must have happened (the victim’s arms and legs were cut off and his eyes were missing). While he is telling his bizarre theory it is shown in all its gruesome details, but in such a way that I was in stitches. Jean Dujardin (The Artist) also has two brief appearances as a sign language translator and again shows how great and funny he can be without talking.
9 Mois Ferme was a huge success in France where it was visited by more than 2 million people. It is a very light comedy, which never has very dramatic moments or takes its time giving more background to its characters. Despite that it is a entertaining film, which probably won’t leave a lasting impression, but still worth checking out.
