After asking you about organising your movie collection last week I started wondering if people still invest in their collection. With the current availability of various online ways of watching movies (Netflix, iTunes) I am wondering if you still go out to buy a movie or if the online offerings (if you internet connection allows it) are great alternatives?
I have to admit that I am not big anymore on collecting movies as I rarely rewatch things and if I want to it is only some clicks away. Online all the way for me then.
I don’t have the money to buy films online for a month or anything. I just do what any desperate film buff does. Yeah, it’s wrong but I’m doing what I have to do.
I completely understand 🙂
I don’t buy like I once did, but I will pick up a few things on occasion. I rarely buy anything brand new, though. I’ve got a couple used book stores and pawn shops in my area that sell DVDs and Blu-Rays pretty cheap. I mostly add older movies that are hard to find or complete my set of one franchise or another.
Yeah, the prices of new movies almost seem outrageous when you compare them to the price of Netflix for example. If I see something cheap which Id love to see I usually pick it up, but it happens less often.
Good question.
I buy much less movies then I used to, but I still do. There are certain movies I just prefer owning and being able to watch whenever. Also, I can be swayed to by a movie if it has a really good making-of bonus feature–“The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy being the stand-out–and/or an interesting commentary track.
Yeah, I also bought those DVD’s because all of the extras. Have to admit though I don’t think I watched them all!
I actually did stop collecting films a couple of years ago. When you can pick any movie to watch anywhere it just doesn’t make sense. I went on holiday to France and could still use Netflix.
Yeah, isn’t it an awesome time to be a movie fan?
