Although we love cinema there are always things about films that might annoy us. So today I ask you a very simple question:
If you could ban just one thing from films today, what would you choose and why?
Personally I would ban trailers as I don’t watch them and hate having to ignore them at the cinema while I’m waiting for the movie to start. Looking forward to seeing what you would be banning.
Product placement. Why would I want to waste 2 hours watching a bunch of commercials on a big screen when I can see it on TV for free for 30 seconds and have the option to change the channel?
+1 please.
Yeah, they can be pretty annoying and sometimes they age the movie so quickly. Especially the ones with technology!
Product placement, splitting films into two or three, unnecessary sequels and remakes, Johnny Depp.
I only said one 😉 Still I agree with most of these….although there are sometimes good remakes and Johnny Depp isn’t bad in everything?
LOL! Missed that part. And yeah, there are some good remakes (Let Me In) and Johnny’s not always awful but I’m just so sick of him!
Daddy issues. I’m done with that as a theme. Find something else to motivate you leading man.
That’s an interesting one and immediately had to think of a couple of movies which do that.
Shaky-cam.
I never have an issue with that personally as I don’t notice it, but know it annoys a lot of people.
Post credits scenes. If they’re that important, put them in the bloody films.
Hear hear…..I don’t understand that either. What do you think of footage during the credits?
One Thing: People in average paid professions that live in oversized city apartments they could never afford in real life.
Hahaha, yeah I always wonder as well how they manage to do that!
Ban one thing? Raunchy comedies! I’m sooo sick of them and that is what Hollywood is constantly churning out these days.
Yeah, it seems like there aren’t that many out there no more that don’t base everything on raunchiness.
Wow, great question here . . . I would echo a lot of what was already said. Unnecessary sequels/remakes. Cutting movies into two or three films (unless it’s absolutely necessary . . . and it’s not the majority of the time).
I actually love trailers, haha.
Thanks Kristin. I understand trailers can be exciting to watch (that’s the point of them), but I want to go into a movie knowing as little as possible, allowing myself to be completely surprised.
Hi, Nostra:
I’m kind of along the lines of Keith regarding raunchy comedies. Though I would expand the net to include:
Stop making safe, uniform and standardized films that are audience tested to offend no one. While including badly over acted and stereotyped members of every “oppressed” Politically Correct, Special Interest sub sect on the planet!
Securing my Soapbox.
Carry on.
Yeah, don’t understand that audience tests either. I makes for far interesting movies. Creating thing “by committee” never will result in anything exciting.
Adam Sandler movies 😉
Yeah, I’m behind you on that one! Saves me energy having to dodge seeing them 😉
