The moment has finally come to look at the last part of counting down my top 100 favourite films, the final ten.

10. Back to the Future
[/mlprx][mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”450″][/mlprx]
As a big fan of time travel movies this has to be the one I enjoy the most. The characters are fun and the situations they end up in entertaining. A movie I can’t get enough of.
[mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”400″]
9. Terminator 2: Judgement Day
[/mlprx][mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”450″][/mlprx]
For many picking the best Terminator movie (between the first two) is difficult, but I have always had a preference for the sequel. Not only is it a brilliant decision to use Arnold Scharzeneggers Termintaor differently, the new opponent is extremely threatening, a great role by Robert Patrick. An almost perfect mix of science fiction and action.
[mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”400″]
8. Groundhog Day
[/mlprx][mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”450″][/mlprx]
Bill Murray plays one of his best roles as Phil, a man who keeps waking up on the same they. Even though he initially enjoys it it slowly makes him depressed and tries to kill himself in various ways. It is a movie which has so much emotion but is funny as well. As you are watching it you can imagine you’d probably go through the same feelings the main character does.
[mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”400″]
7. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
[/mlprx][mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”450″][/mlprx]
Many see the first Indiana Jones movie as the best one, but I always loved the third one the most. Part of it is just the chemistry between Sean Connery and Harrison Ford. A movie full of adventure, action, suspense and comedy.
[mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”400″]
6. Alien
[/mlprx][mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”450″][/mlprx]
One of those movies which I actually hadn’t seen until only a few years ago. I immediately understood why it is so widely loved. The suspense in this movie is unbelievable and the jump scares effective. Sigourney Weaver is amazing in her iconic role of Ripley.
[mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”400″]
5. Gravity
[/mlprx][mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”450″][/mlprx]
I don’t consider myself a fan of 3D, but this is one of the few films I’m willing to make an exception for. When the movie was playing in the cinema I actually made sure to see it again as I was sure I wouldn’t be able to experience it the same way at home. Technologically it is a next step in cinema and its story one which doesn’t give you a moment to relax or breathe. Suspenseful from beginning till end.
[mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”400″]
4. Intouchables
[/mlprx][mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”450″][/mlprx]
To me this movie, based on a true story, is one of the best feel-good movies around. Omar Sy and Franรงois Cluzet create some very funny scenes together. One of those films I’ll never get bored of.
[mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”400″]
3. Pulp Fiction
[/mlprx][mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”450″][/mlprx]
Quentin Tarantino is still one of my favourite directors around. And even though he has made an impressive number of quality films, his second one remains my favourite. The way he told the story at the time was fresh, the characters were interesting and it was endlessly quotable. A classic.
[mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”400″]
2. Mr.Nobody
[/mlprx][mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”450″][/mlprx]
Mr.Nobody is a movie a lot of people have not seen, which really is a shame. The various stories about the different results of making a choice has been masterfully translated to screen. The subjects this movie deals with have always interested me and is one of the main reasons this movie is so high in my top 100.
[mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”400″]
1. Black Swan
[/mlprx][mlprx effect=”fadeInRight” delay=”450″][/mlprx]
There is only one movie which can take the crown and for me it’s Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan. Natalie Portman injects her character Nina Sayers with lots of emotion and complexity and Aranofsky makes the world of ballet interesting. You understand the drive Nina has and to which extremes she is willing to go. To me Black Swan is, just like the main character states at the end of the movie, perfect, making it my personal number 1.
Which movies have you seen?
[cgview tags=top-100 size=medium lightbox=0]
I’ve watched all ten. Didn’t know Black Swan was your #1, a highlight from the 2010s. #3, #8,#9,#10 are on my favorites list as well. Great list!
Yeah, it has been number one since it came out. Thanks Chris!
Wow, I wasn’t expecting some of these at the very top – Black Swan was good, but great? Hmm…. I’m more traditional in that I’d have Indy and Ripley closer to the top (no Star Wars film in the 10? Boo!! LOL) but I have yet to see Intouchables, so I really must get to that soon.
Nice I was able to surprise you and yes, Black Swan is a great movie! ๐
I actually don’t have any Star Wars in my top 100, never been a huge fan of the franchise.
Yeah, check out Intouchables, very good film.
Very diverse and different Top-10 list. Three on your list I have not watched, but will make a point to.
Yeah, I know it is very diverse and doesn’t have the titles many would expect ๐ Which ones haven’t you seen?
1, 2 and 4
WOW, the final 10!! I love some of these, especially Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. That’ll be on my top 10 of all time too if I ever endeavor to make such a list. Glad to see Gravity made your list, it’s such an astounding piece of filmmaking, even rewatching it again at home it still packed a punch!
Yes, it is finally here! ๐ I would be interested to see what you top 100 (or even top 10) would look like. I might have to buy some 3D glasses for my projector to see if the home experience for Gravity is the same ๐
Ivan and I finally bought 3D glasses a year ago and Gravity looked amazing even at my home cinema. I also love Avatar’s 3D which is still the best 3D films I’ve ever seen. So yeah, it’s worth it Nostra!
Will look into it…have no idea how much one or a couple would be for the type of projector I have
Congrats on finishing this. I know it was a tough task to put yourself through. I’ve seen 9 of these, only missing Mr. Nobody. I think all of them are awesome…except The Intouchables. You can keep that one. That might be a bit harsh. I mean, it was pretty good. That said, this is your list and I certainly won’t fault you for having that, or any other movie at the top of your list. I once did mine a few years back. Trying to nudge myself to do it again. Soon, I hope.
It took me a while (especially considering how long I wanted to do this one), but I’m glad I did it.
I can understand your feelings about Intouchables. Definitely check out Mr. Nobody which is unlike many other films.
AWESOME!!!! Congrats on finishing that list.
Thank you Steven!
Some of these were surprises to see considering your choices on the lead up to this entry. I can’t say I find fault with any of the 10 films in here though. All of them are great or close to greatness in my book and each have their own merits. Curiously, of the ones included, the ones I would rank lowest if I were to do this would be Mr. Nobody and Black Swan. Of the others, I am most excited about the inclusion of Alien, Pulp Fiction, The Intouchables, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Gravity and Groundhog Day. All of these are favorites of mine as well, and all of them would feature very high, with Pulp and The Intouchables pretty close to #1.
Thanks for sharing!
Just shows how different taste can be. Those two top movies really managed to move me or have resonance more than any other film on the list. Happy to share these. Now have to think what is going to be my next project!
Pretty solid list! Really happy to see Terminator 2 and Alien on there ๐ Not sure about including Gravity though, but that’s okay!
Pretty solid? It is extremely solid ๐
You didn’t like Gravity? Why?
Great choices. Though I still haven’t seen Black Swan and being number 1 in your list is another reason to see it.
Yeah Ben, go see that as soon as you can!
