The Monday Question: You have to get a crew together for a space mission, which movie characters would you pick?

The Monday Question

As I saw The Martian last week I started thinking about space travel in various movies and started wondering about creating your own crew. The mission? You’ll be exploring a new planet and you will have no idea what you will face. It might be uninhabited, but alien lifeforms could also be present. This week’s question:

Who would you pick for your crew?

I’d start with someone who knows how to survive and not afraid to face anything: Ripley (Alien)

As I probably wouldn’t be the best to take command I’d want someone with a whole lot of experience: Captain Picard (Star Trek)

For survival I’d choose someone who is able to grow something in the most difficult of places: Mark Watney
Recensie The Martian

Of course we’d also need someone who knows his way in vehicles and who eventually has to take the step into space (come on, where else can these movies go next): Dominic Toretto

And although people on the crew might start confusing them I’d also choose Richard B. Riddick as he would be able to get us out of any place and fight anyone.

Well, this isn’t on purpose considering my previous two choices, but I’d also take along Groot. Someone who is silent but strong.

Who would you pick for your crew and why?

  1. Ripley…. well, obviously.

Han Solo because he’s a badass. Chewie because he rocks.

Anne Hathaway’s character from Interstellar so there is someone I can sleep with.

And Groot…. because he is Groot.

  2. Bit of a cheat but Jet Black, Spike Spiegel, and Faye Valentine from the anime Cowboy Bebop would be fantastic company. I’d also put Ripley AND Shatner in charge of the ship, I’d also have ‘Drone 1 Dewey’ to make sure everything ran smoothly… although I don’t think the team above would make it past the moon!
