As a movie fan it is pretty difficult to escape from people posting about the Oscars and giving their predictions. Personally I don’t care for them much. The last time I’ve seen them the year probably started with 19. I did take a peek at the list of winners, but it’s not something I will spent much energy on (for example I think many people will write a lot about Stallone not winning, but I’m not surprised by the winner). But as I’m probably one of the few movie bloggers who doesn’t care much I am wondering how others have experienced the Oscars this year:
What did you think about the Oscars this year?
I thought, everybody won. All the deserving people got their awards, Leo can finally breathe, and Mad Max got all the important nods it could have gotten. Though I would have personally liked somebody else get the director nod, I like that best picture went to Spotlight, because it truly was more powerful than The Revenant.
Yeah, quickly having had a look at the winners I think there are no real shocks or surprises.
Apparently Star Wars is the highest grossing film to not win anyOscars. If Mad Max wasn’t in the line-up, I think Force Awakens would have won a few technical awards.
I enjoyed the broadcast, just I felt the #oscarsowhite was overplayed, I didn’t need to be told the same thing 20x
That’s pretty crazy isn’t it?
The show itself was a bit of a mess.
The editing was odd, and the constantly panning camera as the nominees names are read was annoying.
So you didn’t enjoy it as much?
The Academy needs to step far away from its connection to Cannes, Golden Globes and numerous east and west film critic cabals. With the amount of ads, hype, gossip and guesses regarding the Oscars. It was hard discerning the months long quadrennial deluge of political ads and talking heads from the pre Oscar hoopla.
