One of the newest additions to the Fast & Furious family was Scott Eastwood, son of Clint Eastwood. He played a character who, to me, was only an annoying addition and he did not convince me of his acting talent. Fortunately, it was a supporting role, but in Overdrive (which happens to also be about a group that has a strong passion for cars), he plays one of the main roles. Does he show another side here?
Andrew Foster (Scott Eastwood) and Garrett Foster (Freddie Thorp) are two car-thieving brothers. They have set their sights on a highly exclusive Bugatti, which is transported through the south of France. Although stealing the car is very dangerous and difficult (from a moving truck), they succeed. However, they quickly discover that they should not have chosen this car. It turns out that it belongs to a local underworld figure, who knows how to find them. This could mean the end of their lives, but they manage to use the rivalry with another successful criminal and promise that they can steal an extremely rare Ferrari from him. With a ticking clock and their lives on the line, they have to try to perform their assignment in a short time period.
I could about it for a long, but this is easily described as “Fast & Furious light”. As in those movies, the mutual relationships are important, the two brothers try to outsmart others and there are various car-related action moments. Eastwood is better in this role compared to his presence in the previously mentioned film. The film has a number of entertaining moments, yet this is a title that will be forgotten quickly. If you are up for a light action movie though, then Overdrive offers some entertainment.
