Just like in the past years, I’ve decided to create a blindspot list of movies which I still have not seen, but which I feel I should have. So time to change that with some titles I want to watch this coming year. Want to know which twelve I’ve picked?
Lion
I’ve heard a lot of great things about this and it’s a movie which also appeared in various end of year lists. I missed it though, hence I’ve decided to add it here.
To Catch a Thief
A couple of years ago I watched quite a few Hitchcock movies. An experience I really enjoyed, but there are a couple of titles which I still haven’t seen, this being one of them.
Blast Of Silence
This movie was added by a fellow blogger to the Dutch version of the best Christmas movies relay race. I had never hear of it and since the way he wrote about it really made me curious, I just have to see it.
Gods of Egypt
No, this definitely isn’t a must-see or a good movie if I can belive others. But there are times when you just have to watch a bad movie, making you appreciate others more. Or who knows, maybe it will become one of my guilty pleasures?
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension
It’s title alone is interesting and there are a lot of people who are a fan of it. There even are plans for a remake/expansion (heard Kevin Smith talk about it) and as I have never seen it I’m willing to give it a shot.
Bride of Frankenstein
During the past two years I added a classic horror movie to the list, so I though it would be a great idea to keep the tradition going by adding this 1935 title.
Starman
Except for the fact that it’s directed by John Carpenter, I really don’t know anything about this movie. But because of that name I’m giving it a chance.
Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan
Out of all the Star Trek movies I only saw the Next Generation one and latest two films, but as The Wrath of Khan is seen by many as the best of the movie I had to add it to the list.
7 Boxes
I’ve had an ever-growing list on IMDb of titles I want to see. It’s grown to over 300 titles and this was one that was suggested to me by another blogger.
Tape
A Richard Linklater movie I haven’t seen yet.
Underground
Wrote this one down after watching an interview with a movie lover who praised it a lot.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Another fifties movie with a very famous title, but to which I currently can only respond with a blank stare. A movie starring Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor could be interesting.
Do you have a blindspot list of are there older movies you are planning to watch this year?
I’ve seen several on your list and you have some fun ones to look for to. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is fabulous as is Bride and Lion. And you said “there are times when you just have to watch a bad movie, making you appreciate others more.” You picked the right one for that! LOL. 🙂
Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if I’d actually like it and it would become a guilty pleasure. I’ve had movies like that before which were widely hated and which I enjoyed (Battle Los Angeles and Battle Ship come to mind)
Why would you want to watch something awful like The God of Egypt? I watched 20 minutes of it and it was enough for me to say “no mas”. The visual effects are awful. Gerard Buttwad is doing his schtick and it has Brenton Thwaites who I can’t fucking stand.
You can do so much better.
Because I’m curious and since there was quite a discussion about it on the /Filmcast… Once I’ll start, I’ll be able to finish it.
I know 😉
