The Many Faces of… Zooey Deschanel

An overview of the roles of Zooey Deschanel in all her movies

Zooey Deschanel was born on January 17, 1980 in Los Angeles. Her parents are both active in cinema (her father is a cinematogerpher and director, her mother an actress). As she grew up she often travelled together with her father for the movies he was working on. It was something she didn’t like. She went to Crossroads School for Art & Sciences (college preparatory school). She got to know Kate Hudson and Jake Gyllenhaal, who also attended. She wanted to become a singer, which she did a lot in high school and wanted to be in the theatre. She attended Northwestern University, but decided to drop out after only seven months to pursue her acting career.

Her first appearance was on the TV show Veronica’s Closet in 1998 and her first movie was Mumford. She has since been in movies like Almost Famous, Elf, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Bridge to Terabithia, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Happening and (500) Days of Summer.

  1. Aaah! The lovely Zooey! 😉
I don’t really have a particular favourite performance, I just enjoy looking at her 😉

  2. Adore Zooey. Absolutely adore her. She’s great in New Girl, at the moment (But is getting totally eclipsed by the ever brilliant Schmidt.). Even though Summer was a little bit of a bitch, she was great in (500) Days of Summer.

I saw her live (As She & Him) a couple of years back and she has a phenomenal voice. Very talented!

    • The first thing I remember her in was (500) Days of Summer and thought she was good as well, even though she wasn’t a likable character.

Have never heard her sing, but awesome that you managed to!

  3. I think she is really cute and she is a wonderful singer but I never thought she is much of an actress. She does well being herself in supporting roles in rom-coms but she really doesn’t act all that much in her films. I give her credit for trying though, especially for Winter Passing.
