Date Night (2010)

Phil (Steve Carell) and Claire (Tina Fey) Foster have been married for many years. They work very hard and have two kids. After all these years the excitement of their marriage is starting to disappear. Even their weekly date night is not that special anymore as they go out to eat at the same restaurant and are home again before ten o’clock. When they hear that some close friends of theirs are splitting up, Phil decides to do something different on their date night. They head for Manhattan to eat at a very trendy restaurant, which Claire has been wanting to eat at for ages. When they arrive they find out that the restaurant is so popular that you a reservation has to be made months in advance. Phil does not want to go and decides to pretend he’s someone else when a name of another couple is called and no one responds. While they are enjoying the excellent food they are approached by two men who ask them to step outside as they need something from them. This is the start for a fun (and exciting) comedy Continue reading

Hot Tub Time Machine (2010)

Hot Tub Time Machine is, like you’ll probably guess reading the title, not a very serious movie about time travel. It’s a comedy in which a couple of friends, who really haven’t been that close for a while, decide to back to the place they used to go to during the holidays when they were young. They hope to revive the good old times. Unfortunately the little village has lost its former glory and they decide to enjoy their time there, despite the initial disappointment. They all jump into the hot tub and enjoy the alcohol. When they wake up the next day, the village has transformed. Continue reading

Hot Rod (2007)

The Lonely Island have made their name with performances in Saturday Night Live and their music. Examples are Jizz in my pants, Like a Boss, Dick in a Box and the Grammy nominated I’m on a boat (the video is just comedy gold). The titles of these number probably say a lot about the expectations you will have about third first movie, Hot Rod. Continue reading

Mystery team (2009)

The Mystery Team has been solving mysteries around their neighborhood ever since they were little. They are only small mysteries, like who drove over a frog and things like that. The team consists of Jason (expert in disguises), Duncan (the boy genius) and Charlie (supposedly the strong one). The boys grow up but still take on new cases. When a little girl ask them to solve a big crime they can not turn her down. Continue reading

Half Baked (1998)

Dave Chappelle is one of my favourite comedians ever (as is Chris Rock). This movie, which was made far before he became really famous with his own show already show how good he is in his timing of jokes. In the movie Dave Chappelle’s Block Party (which i have given an 8, it really is a great music movie with lots of funny moments) he told how important timing is when he compares it to playing music.
I saw the movie ages ago and wanted to see it again. Although it’s a movie that will surely be popular to people who like to get high, it’s also a movie you can see if you don’t. Continue reading

Annie Hall (1977)

Woody Allen’s Annie Hall ranks high within the IMDB top 250 (it’s on place 132 at the moment). I heard it was one of the best romcoms around and the it won the Oscar for best movie, beating Star Wars. After reading about these facts i just had to see this movie. You can imagine my expectations were very high. Continue reading

Old dogs (2009)

Yeah, i know. A movie with John Travolta, Robin Williams (and a small part by Seth Green)…why would you watch that? None of them have made any really good movies lately. But sometimes i feel like watching a comedy where you know it won’t be a very good movie, but do know there will be some laughs. Old dogs is one of those comedies. Continue reading

Life of Brian (1979)

When it comes to British humour the Monty Python team is one of the best. Well known for their weird sketches, obviously simple humour and absurdity. In this movie the 6 member play about 40 different roles. Is the Life of Brian a movie that you have to when you are a Monty Python fan? Continue reading

Tooth Fairy (2010)

What’s up with movies in which muscled men, who have been come to be well known by their action movies, suddenly end up in a situation they don’t belong in (the fish out of water story). We have seen Vin Diesel in The Pacifier, Arnold Schwarzenegger in Kindergarten Cop and Hulk Hogan as Mr. Nanny (and proabably some other examples can be thought of). The Tooth Fairy with Dwayne Johnson (also known as the Rock) can now be added to the list. Continue reading
