Up in the air (2009)

George Clooney, Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga star in this comedy/drama. Clooney is Ryan Bingham, whose job it is to fire people. Because of this he constantly has to travel around the US. He’s living in his own perfect little world. Because of a change in company policy he has to allow Natalie to enter his world. Continue reading

Some like it hot (1959)

Some like it hot is movie which you will see in many “best/greatest movie” lists. It was a movie which i wanted to see for a long time. Ever since the Odd Couple and Grumpy Old Men i’ve been a big fan of Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. Because Jack Lemmon is starring in this movie, together with Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe it was a movie i had to see and which i enjoyed a lot! Continue reading

What’s up, Tiger Lilly? (1966)

The movie Kung Pow is one of my favourite comedies (besides the Apatow movies, Dumb and Dumber, Coming to America and Trading Places). The concept of the movie is that they took an old chines kung fu flick, had one person dub it really badly and edit him into the movie. You either love or hate Kung Pow, there is no middle ground. Expect no logical story and very stupid, but because of it, very funny jokes.
Kung Pow was the reason i started searching for other movies which were made using the same concept and ended up with What’s up, Tiger Lilly. Continue reading

Ghostbusters (1984)

When you were around in the eighties and you read these sentences: “I ain’t afraid of no ghost” or “Who you gonna call?” then chances are you will now be singing the theme music to Ghost Busters. The movie was very popular and even spawned a sequel and a cartoon, which i also watched when i was little. Continue reading

P.S. I love you (2007)

P.S. I love you, starring Gerard Butler and Hilary Swank, was an impulse buy as it’s sometimes nice to watch a romantic movie together. Unfortunately the thought that this was a romantic comedy proved to be completely wrong. This movie is the confirmation to not always trust an IMDB score. It scored 6,9 there, but when you check the score on rottentomatoes, you realise that it’s actually very bad with a 23%. I agree completely with this last score. Continue reading

Black Dynamite (2009)

Black Dynamite is a spoof of the 70’s blaxploitation movies. Black Dynamite himself can be compared with Shaft, with his smooth talking, hip clothes and a nice ride. The set, music and the way the movie has been shot copies the style perfectly. Mistakes have been made on purpose (microphones that appear on-screen, different cars during the same scene when changing the camera angle). If you didn’t know any better you would know for sure that this movie has been made in the seventies. The story is very simple, with Dynamite going for revenge after the death of his brother, but that doesn’t matter when the jokes keep on coming. The M&M’s scene in this movie reminded me of CSI and the way they deduct their conclusions. I won’t say anything more about it, just this: Go see it sucka! Dy-na-mite…Dy-na-mite!

Score: 7
