When director and writer Brad Bird attaches himself to a project, there is enough reason to take notice and anticipate the end result. He directed movies like The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Ratatouille, but was also responsible for the exciting Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Tomorrowland is his newest “live action” movie. Is the end result worth watching? Continue reading

Gravity (2013)
There are some movies which deserve the term ‘experience’. They manage to completely transport you to another world or place and really make you forget about the world around you. Gaspar Noé’s Enter the Void was the last movie I used that term, but Gravity is also a movie which deserves that title ‘experience’. It’s one of those landmark movies which only appears once every few years. Continue reading
The Many Faces of… George Clooney
George Clooney was born on May 6, 1961 in Kentucky. He went to the Blessed Sacrament School in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. In Ohio he attended St. Michael’s School in Columbus, and St. Susanna School in Mason. In middle school he had a condition which partially paralyzed his face. After a year this went away. When his parents moved to Augusta, Kentucky, he went to Augusta High School. He was a good student with high grades and played baseball and basketball. He even tried to become part of the Cincinnati Reds but wasn’t hired. He attended Northern Kentucky University and chose Broadcast Journalism. In 1978 he landed his first role in the TV series Centennial. His first big role was in a sitcom called E/R (which isn’t the same as the show which really made him famous) and had roles in Golden Girls and Roseanne. When he got a role in ER he really had his big break and received various nominations for the role. His first movie role was together with Quentin Tarantino in From Dusk Till Dawn. He has since managed to build an impressive career starring in movies like Out of Sight, Three Kings, O Brother Where Art Thou?, The Perfect Storm and Ocean’s Eleven. He made his directorial debut with Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Other movies he starred in were The Men Who Stare at Goats, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Up in the Air and The Descendants among many others. He won two Oscars. Continue reading

The Descendants (2011)
What’s the first thing you think of when I say Hawaii? It’s probably nice wheather, hula dancers and lots of beauty. If you think in movies you might think of Lilo and Stitch, but all these images are bright and beautiful and really makes it feel like a holiday. The Descendants is set on Hawaii too, but does away with those initial feelings about the islands and uses it as a setting for a family drama. Continue reading

Anton Corbijn is one of Holland’s best photographers. He has done a lot of work for bands like Depeche Mode and U2, taking pictures and making videos. As for movies, he already made Control , a movie about Ian Curtis. Now he’s back in the director’s chair in a return to the silver screen with The American. The movie tells the story of American Hitman Jack (George Clooney). After an unexpected situation in Sweden he leaves the country and ends up in a little village in Italy, where he receives a very easy assignment. Continue reading
