When the first Toy Story came out it was an event, watching a completely computer generated picture was something very special. By now it seems like almost every kids movie is computer generated and it’s hard to keep track of the amount of new ones coming out each year. For every Toy Story 3 there are ten animated movies which you will have forgotten in a couple of months. After I saw the first trailer of Rango I couldn’t wait to see this though, as the look of the film made it stand out from any other animated film and I wanted to find out if this movie is forgettable or if it has “greatness”. Ed Wood (1994)
According to some Ed Wood was the worst director that ever lived. Others might think of Uwe Boll, but I can’t confirm either choice as I haven’t seen any film made by these directors. After watching the movie Ed Wood I actually would like to watch at least on of his movies as I got this “so bad it’s good” feeling about them. Ed Wood tries to show how this director ended up in the world of movies and what happened once he did. Continue reading
Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson (2008)
Hunter S. Thompson wasn’t your standard reporter. After having seen Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, I really wanted to know more about him. It was hard to believe that he actually experienced all that while he was in Las Vegas. He must have been an interesting personality.
When I found this documentary about him, I just had to see it.
The documentary is partly narrated by Johny Depp, who developed a personal relationship with Thompson after doing research for his movie role. There are a lot of people interviewed to create a thorough picture of Thompson as husband, father and colleague. Continue reading
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
A trip….those are the only words that can be used to perfectly summarise this whole movie. The movie tells the story of two friends that go to Las Vegas to write an article about a race. They really don’t manage to do a very good job about this because they are constantly using and abusing a big number of different drugs. Continue reading
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009)

The story is about Dr. Parnassus who has made a bet with the devil and to do win it he’s travelling through Great Britain with a show. With an old-fashioned play he tries people to step into his imaginarium. When a person steps in he will be able to see all the things he is imagining. So dream worlds are created for that person Continue reading
