Channing Tatum was born on April 26, 1980 in Cullman, Alabama. As he was growing up he was always participating in various sports (football, soccer, martial arts among many others). He eventually went to Glenville State College on a football scholarship, but decided to drop out. He went back home and after doing various jobs he worked as a stripper (Chan Crawford). When he moved to Miami he was noticed by a talent scout. His first casting was that of a dancer in Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs” video. He also modelled for Armani and did other commercials. He kept doing his modeling work. His first acting appearance was on the hit show CSI: Miami in 2004 and since 2005 he started appearing in movies, like A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, Coach Carter, Step Up, Fighting, Public Enemies, 21 Jump Street and the G.I. Anthony Mackie was born on born September 23, 1978 in New Orleans, Louisiana. When growing up he initially wanted to become an engineer, but soon became interested in the performance arts and attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), the North Carolina School of the Arts (NCSA) where he graduated after following the high school drama program. At the Juilliard School he was part of the drama division, he graduated in 2001. He first was Don Cheadle’s understudy in a play, but quickly made the move to movies. His first movie was immediately a big role as the rapper Papa Doc in 8 Mile. Giovanni Ribisi was born on December 17, 1974 in Los Angeles. As his mother was a manager for actors and writers, he already started acting at a young age. He studied acting at The Beverly Hills Playhouse. He appeared in small roles on a lot of well-known TV shows like Married With Children, My Two Dads, Blossom, The Wonder Years, Ellen, NYPD Blue, Walker, Texas Ranger and the X-Files. His big breakthrough came when he appeared in Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan. Amy Adams was born in 1974 on the 20th of August in Vincenza, Italy. Her father served in the army and they moved around a lot. When she was eight they settled in Castle Rock, Coloarado. In school she sang in the choir and also danced, trying to become a ballerina. She didn’t go to college and after graduating from high school she headed to Atlanta. She had to let her dreams of becoming a ballerina go and went into musical theater. She worked in several theaters and finally ended up in L.A. Her first movie role was in Drop Dead Gorgeous. She appeared in several other small movies and TV shows (Smallville, Buffy, Charmed and others). She was in Catch Me If You Can, but it wasn’t until her role in Junebug until she started being noticed. Zooey Deschanel was born on January 17, 1980 in Los Angeles. Her parents are both active in cinema (her father is a cinematogerpher and director, her mother an actress). As she grew up she often travelled together with her father for the movies he was working on. It was something she didn’t like. She went to Crossroads School for Art & Sciences (college preparatory school). She got to know Kate Hudson and Jake Gyllenhaal, who also attended. She wanted to become a singer, which she did a lot in high school and wanted to be in the theatre. She attended Northwestern University, but decided to drop out after only seven months to pursue her acting career.
Her first appearance was on the TV show Veronica’s Closet in 1998 and her first movie was Mumford. She has since been in movies like Almost Famous, Elf, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Bridge to Terabithia, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Happening and (500) Days of Summer. Anna Kendrick was born in Portland, Maine on August 9, 1985. She appeared on stage at the age of 12 in the Broadway musical High Society in August 1998. Her performance was impressive and it earned her a Tony award nomination and she won the Theatre World Award. She performed in several musicals and in 2003 she appeared in the TV show The Mayor. In the same year she also made her movie debut in the film Camp. On February 23, 1983 actress Emily Blunt was born in London, England. She went to the Ibstock Place School and when she was 16 she studied at Hurtwood House, which has a very good performing arts programme. Paul Giamatti was born on June 6th, 1967 in New Haven, Connecticut. As he was growing up he attended Yale University and was already acting in theater. He got his bachelor’s degree in English and decided to go to the Yale School of Drama where he got a Master of Fine Arts degree. Jake Gyllenhaal has been born on December 19, 1980 in Los Angeles. His father is a film director and his mother film producer and screenwriter. This meant when he was growing up he saw a lot of the movie industry and first appeared on screen in the movie City Slickers as the son of Billy Crystal’s character in 1991. He went to the Harvard-Westlake School and Columbia University where he studied Eastern religions and philosophy. He didn’t finish his studies though as he wanted to do more acting. The movie which really helped him was Donnie Darko, a movie which quickly became popular through word of mouth.
