The Post (2017) – Review

The profession of investigative journalist is a challenging one. You have to get information that others want to keep a secret and you run a lot of risk to get it and publish it. When your research has to do with the government, who then does everything possible to make sure it isn’t published, it is a battle of interests. The government is ultimately elected by the people, but on the other hand there may be secrets that are of national importance. On the other hand there is the freedom of the press, which should be able to write about anything. We saw the collision of interests in the past few months, for example in America, where the president rejected certain news organizations because they had written about him in a way that did not fit him. Schindler’s List (1993)


There are some movies which you know you really have to see, but somehow never had. The reason I didn’t watch Schindler’s List before was mainly because of its heavy subject matter and it’s length. Before you watch it you already know it’s going to be tough to watch and that you won’t be feeling very happy afterwards. It might have taken some years, but now I finally have seen it and what an amazing piece of cinema it is. Continue reading

My IMDB tens – ET the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)


E.T. was one of the big phenomena during the eigthies. It’s a movie which i remember well, as is was the first movie that made me shed a tear when i was a little boy. Watching the movie again after many years it felt like a warm blanket. I remembered so much of this movie that i was looking forward to each next scene to see if it was just as much fun as i remembered. I decided to watch the original version and not the rereleased 2002 version where various CGI shots were added. E.T. feels more real to me when moving around clumsily compared to a smooth moving computer generated being. Continue reading
