Woody Harrelson is this week’s star in “The Many Faces of…”. He became famous with his role as Woody Boyd in Cheers. As we are quickly approaching another weekend, for which I hope you have some cool things planned, it’s that time of the week for a new installment of the Friday Faces. This week’s actor is Guy Pearce. This Australian actor has an impressive list of movies to his name. Before he started his acting career he was a competitive amateur bodybuilder. He started acting in the theatre and slowly gained fame by appearing as Mike Young in the Australian soap opera Neighbours. In 1994 he starred in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert which meant his big break after which he appeared in big movies like Memento, L.A. Confidential and the Hurt Locker. This week’s choice for “The Many Faces of…” is method actor Daniel Day-Lewis. Although he might not have played in as many movies as other actors (only 4 movies were released since 1997 where he starred) he received two Oscars for his roles in There Will Be Blood and My Left Foot. He was also nominated for Gangs of New York and In the Name of the Father. This is an actor where you know you can expect something special once he decides to commit to a movie and I’m looking forward to seeing him as Lincoln. The movie is currently being filmed. I’m saddened to hear that Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman unexpectedly passed away. He started acting in 1991. Initially in TV shows, but looking at his movie history he has been part of some well known movies like Twister, The Big Lebowski, Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love, 25th Hour, The Ides of March and Moneyball. Welcome to a new installment in the “The Many Faces of…” series, where each week I take a look at all the roles an actor did. I decided that as I’m a big action movie fan it was time to also shine the spotlight on an action star. He might not be the best actor in the world, but Arnold Schwarzenegger has screen presence and it’s always a joy to watch his movies.
Before starting his movie career he was a very successful bodybuilder, winning his first Mr. Universe title when he was 20 and continued winning for several years. After he was done with the sport he wanted to become an actor, which initially was difficult because of his unusual body, his accent and long name. He persisted and finally got his big breakthrough with his role in Barbarian. Through the years he grew into one of the biggest action stars in Hollywood. Continue reading

Rickman has been acting for a long time. He started out in theatre and first appeared on TV. His big breakthrough in movies was his role as Hans Gruber in Die Hard. Since then he has been in high profile movies, most notably the Harry Potter franchise in which he played Severus Snape. After a battle with cancer he passed away on the January 14, 2016. The weekend is almost here, which of course means it is time to reminisce on all the movie roles of a specific actor or actress. Scarletsp1der (who’s blog is worth checking out) requested one with Tom Hardy. Of course everyone is looking forward to seeing him as Bale in the new Batman movie, but looking at his past roles he has been in some great movies. He started out in Band of Brothers and Black Hawk Down and has been steadily climbing the ladders of stardom. She started her career in theatre, did a lot of TV shows and through the years has done many movies as well.
