The Many Faces of… John Malkovich

Although it is documentary week I know a lot of people look forward to this weekly Friday post, so of course there is a new “The Many Faces of…”.

This week’s choice is John Malkovich, who has an impressive list of movies to his name. Not only is he an actor, but he’s also producer, director and fashion designer with his label Technobohemian. He never won an Oscar, but was nominated twice for his roles in Places in the Heart and In the Line of Fire. He has Croatian grandparents and a mother of Scottish and German ancestry and has played quite a few roles in different languages. He is fluent in French (he lived there for 10 years).
He’s a great actor who always manages to stand out in the movies he is in as he has a very strong screen presence. Click here to view his many roles

The Many Faces of… Angelina Jolie

This week’s star of “The Many Faces of…” is Angelina Jolie. After all the men the last couple of weeks I thought it was time to put the spotlight on an actress. At a very young age, when she was 7, she acted in Lookin’ to Get Out together with her father Jon Voight. It wasn’t until the second part of the nineties that she began to make a name for herself earning an Oscar in 1999 for best actress in a supporting role (Girl, Interrupted). Once she did the Tomb Raider movies she became well-known and has been very succesful ever since doing both big action movies (Salt, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Wanted) as well as more serious roles (Changeling, A Mighty Heart). The Many Faces of… Gary Oldman

Another week, another “The Many Faces of…” installment (each Friday another actor/actrees). This week’s choice is Gary Oldman. Thinking that Samuel L. Jackson had many faces in his movies I was completely stunned by the way Gary Oldman looks in the movies he has done. He truly is a chameleon. Looking at his roles it’s very surprising that he never was nominated for an Oscar. He started his career on the stage doing theatre for which he won several awards. His first movie role was in 1982’s Remembrance. His breakthrough in Hollywood came after he played Lee Harvey Oswald in JFK. Click here to view his many roles

The Many Faces of… Tom Hanks

Today is my birthday and of course this means a party. As a visitor you will get a present today in the form of a new “The Many faces of…”. This time I’ve selected Tom Hanks. No particular reason, heard his name in some podcast and thought it would be interesting. Searching for pictures I quickly found out these were not as versatile as Samuel L. Jackson’s ones as he only started to change his appearance in later movies. This made me think what Jason Statham looks like in the various movies. I’d almost bet it would be exactly the same.

Now on to this week’s star, Tom Hanks. Going through his acting career I noticed that he played a lot of small roles in big TV shows like Family Ties, Taxi, The Love Boat and Happy Days. He started acting in 1979 in a small slasher movie called He Knows You’re Alone. It wasn’t until his role in Big that his career really took off. Click here to view his many roles
