As Christmas slowly approaches people start posting their favorite Christmas movies. Everyone has their favorites and they are usually movies they watch every year. This got me thinking about movie traditions. Are there any movie traditions you enjoy each year? Continue reading

The Monday Question: Revisit!
Welcome to another week that gets us closer to the Christmas festivities! Hope you all had a great weekend. As a movie fan you probably have quite an extensive DVD/Blu-Ray collection. It’s been a while since I counted mine, but I probably have a couple of hundred DVDs. It’s a collection which is constantly growing (although not as quick as it used to anymore, but more on that in another post). When it comes to watching movies I usually watch movies I’ve never seen before and this made me wonder about how much movies I rewatch. This week’s question:
How many movies out of your collection will you rewatch? Continue reading
The Monday Question: Genre!
The weekend is behind us and I hope you all had a great time like I did. Have done some movie watching, checked out the mini series Carlos (which was excellent), saw The Change Up (which I hated) and caught up with some episodes of BBC”s The Frozen Planet (David Attenborough is always a joy to listen to), Favela Rising and Roger & Me. Today is the 5th of December, which in The Netherlands means that it’s time to celebrate “Sinterklaas”, which is comparable to Santa Clause, so looking forward to celebrating that today.
Now for this week’s question. As a movie blogger there are a lot of different type of movies I watch and I”m pretty open in my willingness to try movies which are different (some would call them arthouse). There are however some type of movies I am not interested in watching. Today’s question is:
Are there any movie genres you don’t (or hardly) watch? Continue reading
The Monday Question: Disturbance!
For those not following my Twitter feed and who were wondering why there were no updates last week, I had to stay in bed a couple of days because of a stomach virus. The rest did me good and I’m pretty much back to normal, which means that My Filmviews will return back to its regular schedule.
So what do I have in store for you this week? You can look forward to the last battle of the bad guys in round 1 and the start of round 2, new reviews of 30 Minutes or Less, Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, Point Blank and A Dirty Carnival. On Friday a new installment of the weekly “The Many Faces of…” is scheduled, so I’m back in full force.
Now for this week’s Monday Question. We all visit the cinema quite often, which means sharing a space together with a couple of hundred other people, who might not have the same movie watching habits as you do. This sometimes can result in a great experience, but there are times that you have a hard time getting through a movie because someone is annoying you by using the phone or for other reasons. So today’s question is:
What was your worst movie going experience? Continue reading
The Monday Question: Obsessed!
Last week, Scott over at the always excellent FrontRoomCinema, asked himself why he always gave Nicholas Cage a chance. There are always these actors that you will watch, not matter which movie they are in. I must admit I have the same thing with Nicolas Cage, somehow I always enjoy watching him, no matter how bad the movie is. But I must confess that there are more actors that I will watch in almost any movie. So today’s question is:
Which actor/actress will you always watch, no matter in which movie they play in? Continue reading
The Monday Question: Associate!
Good morning and hope you all had a great weekend! Personally I can’t complain as it was nice and relaxing and I managed to watch some movies, one of them was the 1972 disaster movie The Poseidon Adventure. It was one that was recommended to me and I thought it was pretty good. One thing I did start wondering about while I was watching it, was that there were two actors in this movie who I immediately associated with another role they did. It was a feeling that was very hard to shake, so today’s question is:
Are there any actors that you always associate with one of their roles? Continue reading
The Monday Question: Listen!
When I was young I wasn’t able to watch as many movies as I do now. It’s probably the reason why I loved listening to movie soundtracks. It’s a habit I no longer have. When I watch a movie I sometimes don’t even notice the music (which might be a good thing as it means that it’s part of the whole package) and if you would ask me to name some recent movie related soundtracks which stood out I probably wouldn’t get very far. I’d probably mention Drive and Inception (you know the unique sound I mean for that film), but that would be it. So today’s question is:
Do you listen to movie soundtracks and what are your favorites? Continue reading
The Monday Question: Read!
A fresh new week and a fresh new Monday Question. Books are usually not really my thing as my reasoning is always that I can watch more movies during the time it takes to read a book. Recently I started to read a bit more after seeing The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (I just had to read the book it was based on) and I am currently working my way through the Steve Jobs biography (might not be completely movie related, but a very well written book). If I look my bookshelf the first thing I have to admit is that I haven’t got too many of them (if I don’t look at books from past studies), but most of them are movie related. So this week’s question is about books:
Do you read movie related books and which ones are your favorite? Continue reading
The Monday Question: Impact!
With the weekend behind us, which I hope was good for everyone, it’s Monday Question Time! Recently I asked about your first cinema experience and it got me thinking about the impact movies have on you. It’s probably bigger when you are still young, but even now some of them still can have that effect. This week’s question:
Which movies have had an impact on you? Continue reading
The Monday Question: Misunderstood!
Welcome all to a fresh new week. Did you have a good weekend? Mine was awesome as I went to the PAC festival yesterday (which one of the big cinema chains here organised). I saw Ides of March, Let’s Talk About Kevin, The Skin I Live In and Drive yesterday, so I had a great (although slightly exhausting) time. Also saw about 20 minutes of The Help, but the projector broke down unfortunately and couldn’t be fixed. Reviews of these movies will be up soon!
Last week I asked you which movies are your guilty pleasures, but this week I want to switch it around:
For which movies don’t you understand all the praise they get? Continue reading
