Sometimes it can be very interesting to fantasize about how some movies would have turned out if other decisions had been made. What if specific actors would have said yes to roles which are now considered iconic? Would that movie still have been a success? You could do the same for big historical events. the Final Countdown does so in a very original way. Continue reading

Paradox (2016) – Review
There are moments when I look at the reviews I’m writing and the scores I’ve been giving films, when I wonder if I’m generally too positive about the movies I watch. Should I be more critical or do I simply pick out the ones which are, on average, actually good? Paradox quickly gave me an answer to those questions. Continue reading
The Time Traveler’s Wife (2009)
Even though time travel movies is considered a separate genre, it is quite easy to make further distinctions within it. They can be adventurefilms, comedies or mysteries, but there are several of them which focus on romance. My favorites about the subject are About Time and the Christopher Reeve film Somewhere in Time. The Time Traveler’s Wife was a title which I hadn´t seen yet, but had been wanting to for a very long time. Does this movie starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams manage to get a spot as one of my favorites? Continue reading
Stealing Time (2011) – Short movie review
The creativity of the human mind know no limits and it’s always fascinating to see what is being invented, but also which theories we think of about things we can’t even see. It appeals to the imagination and the best movies normally also manage to do that. Whether it was the first Matrix movie which did that on a technical level or Black Swan which did that emotionally. A favorite subject of mine has always been time travel as it enables you to dream about both the future and the past, so it’s no surprise I keep searching for new movies I have not seen. Stealing Time was one of them. Continue reading
Project Almanac (2015)
While some women just can not get enough of romantic comedies, I have that with movies about time travel. I still have a list of movies I haven’t seen which have some sort of time in them. When I heard about this movie, I could not restrain my curiosity. Not every time travel movie is good of course, but because I’m a big fan of the concept in movies, I can easily forgive some rough edges in them. Continue reading
Top 10 time travel movies
One of my favourite subjects when it comes to film is time travel. Even though each “normal” movie does transport its viewer to a different time, the number of movies in which the characters do so is more limited. But if you are a fan of the genre there are quite a few choices, with the following ten movie being my favourites. Continue reading
Hamlet’s Ghost (2014)
Throught he years the time travel genre has given us quite a lot exciting movies. Most will probably think of Back to the Future series first, but movies like Timecrimes, Primer, Looper, The Time Machine and Donnie Darko are just a few examples which are also worth checking out. It is one of my favorite genres and when director Walker Haynes asked me if I wanted to check out his time travel movie Hamlet’s Ghost I didn’t hesitate for a moment. Continue reading
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006)
This review is part of the Japanorama feature started by Paragraph Film Reviews
Lately I’ve been trying to watch more movies which are about time travel, so I was interested in checking this one out. It’s about a schoolgirl, Makoto Konno, who is having a bad day. She has to hurry to get to school in time, gets an unexpected test and also has an accident during cooking class. When she has to put away some tests in the science lab she falls and discovers a strange subject. Later during the day she has a strange experience. Her aunt explains it as a time leap. She finds out that, if she wants to, can leap through time. Continue reading
Somewhere in Time (1980)
Most people (like myself) will mainly know Christopher Reeve from his work in the various Superman movies and the horse riding accident which left him paralysed till he died in 2004. I had not seen him act outside of his role as Superman, so I was interested to check out some of his other work. When I read that this was a time travel movie, the decision was easily made which one I would watch. Continue reading
The Navigator: A Medieaval Odyssey (1988)
Time travel has always fascinated me. When I was young I loved reading the “Suske en Wiske” comics, where a time travel machine was regularly used to help go on an adventure or help someone out. I might not read the comics anymore, but the idea of being able to visit the future or past and see what’s different from the time we live in is extremely compelling. Although I’ve seen quite a lot of movies which feature it, it turns out there are quite a lot of them which I have not seen yet. Time to change that as I’ve begun to slowly work my way through some of them, with this movie being the first. Continue reading
